Scott & Corrie's Wedding Day

The big day...finally!

The weather was perfect! It was cloudy, breezy & raining a little for the rehearsal and even on Saturday morning but by 2:00, the sun was out and it was beautiful.

Jamie was sooooo handsome!! The other men in their tuxedo's and the bridesmaids looked pretty good too. Corrie looked like she stepped out of a bridal magazine...so amazingly beautiful!
I'm only posting a few photos but all 409 of them are on my Flickr site.

Jamie was exhausted and also a little tired of posing for pictures!!

I had fun taking photos and figured out (ok, I already knew) that I need a larger SD card for my camera. I have a 4G SDHC card that I used in my Canon but, for some reason, my new camera won't read or write to it... and it should. I think I just need to format it but, since it won't read in my camera, I can't format it. (I did try formatting it on the computer and it did format but still not recognized by my camera.) So, I was using my 1G card and had to upload to my laptop after the ceremony so that I could take more photos at the reception.

Finding Memory Grove Park

map of our "tour" of Memory Grove Park

The wedding rehearsal was set to begin at 5:00 and, although we didn't know where we were going, I used Google Maps on my Blackberry to get us there. Or, so I thought. We found Memory Grove Park but could not figure out where everyone was supposed to be. Turns out that everyone else was also running late so they weren't there when we drove by. I called Steve and described where we were and he was running late and trying to find the Park with the GPS in his car...and his GPS was wa-aa-ay off. The confusion was the "gate". Steve had told us earlier that the "gate" would be closed and that we'd have to park and walk in. So, when we came to the "gate", we saw no people and there were no places to park. From the map on my phone, it looked like maybe there were places to park on the other side of the park so we started driving around. Steve called me back and said that "the gate" was open and everyone was parked at the spot. We continued around the park and came to another road with a gate, just like the one we'd seen earlier and, it was open. We thought that this road would take us back to the first gate...it did and that gate was still locked and we were trapped!! We got out and looked around and found the wedding party about 100 yards down the road where we had driven past, twice, just 15 minutes earlier. I walked with Jamie over to the rehearsal while Bill backtracked and finally got the car back to where we needed to be. Turns out that the "gate" (main gate) that Steve was talking about was open so we didn't even know we had passed a gate at all. The first gate that we came to (and the road from there to the 2nd gate) was blocked off to vehicle traffic as it is a jogging/biking trail. Ooops!! (Don't know why the gate at the north end was open!)
So, we were a little late to the rehearsal but we did get to know more about Memory Grove Park than most everyone else!! We were in the right place and at the correct time but, since we didn't see anyone else, we just didn't know it!

The Rehearsal Dinner was a Luau theme and held at Bev & Steve's condo clubhouse. There was so much amazing food! We didn't stay too long at the dinner, though, because we needed to get Jamie into bed at a reasonable time.

Trying on the Tux

We left Alamosa on Wednesday afternoon and drove to Grand Junction for the night. It was a crazy night and a lesson to, in the future, spend a few extra dollars to stay in a more reputable hotel. I tried to be thrifty and figured that one night at a Motel 6 couldn't be too bad. We were woken up at 3:00am by someone pounding on our door. Bill went to check it out and found two men outside our door, one was bent over in obvious discomfort. They didn't respond to Bill so he called 911, twice. By the time the police arrived, the man who was bent over had passed out (extremely intoxicated) and was completely unresponsive, so the police called the ambulance. All of this took place outside of our room and quite loudly...no respect for the people inside who were trying to sleep! I don't think I ever got back to sleep and I was so ready to get on the road and drive to Salt Lake City.

We arrived in Salt Lake City on Thursday afternoon and went to pick up Jamie's tux. He tried it on and needed a few alterations. He was so adorable...he even said, "You're right, mom...I DO look good in a tux!"

OMG! He is so handsome!

We saw Steve at Men's Wearhouse, who invited us over for dinner. J.B., Laura & Scott were there and Rob & Silver arrived as well. After our late night/early morning experience in Grand Junction, the three of us were exhausted, so we left early and went back to our room to turn in for the day. One thing about staying in a Senior Assisted Living Center...it is SO quiet!

Not a lot going on today...I'm going to help Bev with the scrapbook and then get a pedicure at 1:30. I also need to go to Kohl's and Ross to do some returns/exchanges. The wedding rehearsal is at 5:00 and a luau dinner at 6:30. Bonnie (Bill's sister) got in late last night so we've been hanging out with her this morning. I think we've decided to drive straight through to Alamosa on Monday. We want to visit with everyone for as long as possible and we want to avoid an overnight stay in Grand Junction.
